A RENOVATION TO
UPDATE THE MODERN

Prior to being renovated, the exterior entry to this steel-beamed A-frame home lacked definition. A new design replaced the steep staircase with fewer steps, making the approach both safer and more inviting. To maintain the original lines of the house, steel was used to provide sleek strength to the porch roof.

The interior staircase, which originally consisted of two jack-knived stringers, now comprises a grand central stairway that splits dramatically to add elegance and convenience.

Beneath each wing of the staircase, closets with inset flat panels make optimum use of space, while providing additional architectural detail.

Throughout the home, rich wood tones contrast pleasingly with painted and natural stone surfaces. In the dining area (not shown), a new hardwood floor adds warmth, and mirrored vestibule inserts are used to showcase artwork.
